Dan Wang is a Distinguished Lecturer in Chinese at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, within the Department of World Languages and Cultures (College of Arts and Sciences). She joined UT in 2015 after 8 years at Duke University. Her academic roles include teaching and coordinating elementary/intermediate Chinese courses, leading summer programs, and advising the Chinese Culture Club since 2016.

Her research focuses on second language acquisition, language teaching methods, community-based learning, and teacher development. Notable publications include contributions to Chinese as a Second Language Assessment (Springer, 2017). She has presented at conferences such as ACTFL and CLTA.
Awards: 2021 Community Outreach Award, 2019 Teaching & Learning Innovation Award, 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award, and Duke University fellowships (2010, 2014).
Her outreach efforts include organizing cross-cultural events, career sessions, and cultural festivals, as well as collaborations with local schools like L&N Stem Academy and King’s Academy.
