Dr. Dan W. French serves as Professor of Finance at Lamar University's School of Accounting, Finance and Economics since 2018, having previously served as Dean of the College of Business (2018-2023). His distinguished academic career spans over 40 years across multiple institutions including the University of Missouri–Columbia (2003-2018), New Mexico State University (1993-2003), and Texas Christian University (1984-1993).

Professor French's research focuses on real estate finance with emphasis on Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), institutional ownership effects, and corporate finance. His work examines net asset value estimation, depreciation-related capital gains, social capital in financial development, and market efficiency implications of information disclosure, published in leading journals including the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and Financial Review.

As an educator, Professor French teaches undergraduate and graduate courses spanning Principles of Finance to Real Estate Portfolio Analysis and Financial Modeling. He has directed academic programs including the Master of Science in Finance at Missouri and served on numerous thesis committees. His leadership extends to directing the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate and serving on professional committees including the Governor's Permanent Funds Study Committee for New Mexico's $10 billion trust funds.
Professor French maintains active engagement with international finance communities through presentations in Madrid, Paris, Singapore, and Delft, reflecting his global research perspective and collaborative approach.
