Professor Dan Sarooshi KC is a leading academic in Public International Law at the University of Oxford, holding a full Professorship since 2006. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at The Queen's College, Oxford, and has been affiliated with the university since 2003. His roles extend to arbitrator for Brexit-related disputes under the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement, Queen's Counsel (since 2018), and member of the WTO Dispute Settlement Panel (nominated by the UK/EU).
His research focuses on Public International Law, International Arbitration, Constitutional Law, and the legal frameworks of international organizations. Notable works include co-editing Oppenheim’s International Law: The Law of Peace (forthcoming) and authoring International Organizations and their Exercise of Sovereign Powers (2007). His research explores sovereignty, institutional conflict management, and systemic values in international economic law.
Professor Sarooshi has received prestigious awards, including the American Society of International Law Book Prize twice, the Myres McDougal Prize, and the Guggenheim Prize. He has overseen eight DPhil students whose theses were published by major academic presses. His professional engagements include roles at the Hague Academy of International Law, the British Institute of International & Comparative Law, and the American Society of International Law.
