Dan Marghitu is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Auburn University. He holds a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University, a Diplome D'Etudes Approfondies from Université Paul Sabatier, and a Diplome de Inginer from the University of Craiova. His research focuses on mechanical impact, dynamics, mechanisms, robotics, vibrations, and biomechanics. He has authored numerous articles on topics ranging from nonlinear dynamics in human joints to advanced mechanical systems analysis.
His work emphasizes experimental and computational methods, including finite element analysis, entropy metrics, and cam-follower system modeling. Recent studies explore the effects of treadmill parameters on human joint stability and the nonlinear dynamics of prosthetic knees. Marghitu’s research also extends to applications in sports science, such as analyzing tennis ball impacts and equine lameness detection through entropy analysis.
He has collaborated on projects involving MATLAB-based simulations for mechanism design and has contributed to the study of additive manufacturing materials’ vibrational properties. His publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches, blending mechanical engineering with biomedical and computational sciences.
