Dan Malleck is a Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Brock University and Director of the Centre for Canadian Studies in the Faculty of Humanities. An internationally recognized expert in drug and alcohol regulation, he examines historical and contemporary substance policies through cultural and medical history lenses.
His research explores the socio-political dimensions of substance regulation across three primary domains:
- Historical development of drug/alcohol policies in North America
- Cultural perceptions of substance use and abuse
- Evolution of pharmaceutical regulation and pharmacy professionalization
Honors include the Canadian Historical Association’s Clio Prize for Ontario historical scholarship. He leads research on pharmacy professionalization in Canada and directs interdisciplinary scholarship at the Centre for Canadian Studies.
