Damon R. Reed

Dr. Damon R. Reed is a Clinical Professor and pediatric hematologist-oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK Kids). He serves as Division Head of Pediatric Solid Tumors and Chief of the Pediatric Sarcoma Service. His expertise focuses on pediatric sarcomas, solid tumors, and precision oncology, particularly studying tumor resistance mechanisms and optimizing therapy combinations to improve outcomes for adolescents and young adults with cancer.

Education: MD from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, followed by residencies at Boston Children's Hospital and fellowships at St. Jude Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Board-certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Research Interests: Dr. Reed leads research into tumor therapeutic resistance, targeted therapies, and clinical trial development for sarcomas. He is pioneering precision oncology approaches to personalize treatment, reduce relapse, and enhance patient survival. Key areas include molecular profiling of tumors, immunotherapy integration, and early-phase drug trials.

Awards: Recipient of the 2022 Castle Connolly Top Doctor Award, 2015 Dick Vitale Heart of Gold Award, and Alpha Omega Alpha distinction from Case Western Reserve University.

Clinical & Administrative Roles: Vice Chair of the Bone Tumor Committee for the Children’s Oncology Group and Vice President of the Connective Tissue Oncology Society (assuming presidency in 2024). Active in national and international sarcoma networks.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates across MSK’s multidisciplinary teams to advance sarcoma research and treatment, including clinical trials evaluating novel therapies and combination regimens.
