Damon Lamb is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Florida, affiliated with the McKnight Brain Institute. He holds B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University. His research integrates computational methods with clinical neuroscience, focusing on neuromodulation (e.g., vagus nerve stimulation), neuroimaging biomarkers, and machine learning applications in neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases.
His work addresses critical areas such as PTSD treatment in veterans, cognitive impairment in traumatic brain injury (TBI), and diabetes pathology through AI-driven imaging analysis. Key projects include developing deep learning tools for pancreatic islet quantification and exploring GABA metabolism’s role in healthy aging.
Dr. Lamb’s publications emphasize translational neuroscience, with recent trends in neurotechnology integration (e.g., augmented reality paired with nerve stimulation) and longitudinal biomarker studies for TBI prognosis. His research bridges engineering and medicine, leveraging high-performance computing environments for brain mapping and clinical diagnostic pipelines.
He collaborates closely with the McKnight Brain Institute and BME Graduate Faculty, advancing interdisciplinary approaches to neuroplasticity, cognitive aging, and autonomic dysfunction. Current projects include investigating autonomic regulation’s role in PTSD and TBI recovery, with a focus on physiological biomarkers and neurobehavioral correlates.
