Damien Brady

Dr. Damien Brady is a Lecturer in the Department of Applied Sciences at South East Technological University (enviroCORE). He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Ulster (1997) and has extensive postdoctoral experience, including work with Trinity College Dublin and a biotechnology startup. His research focuses on microbial pathogens in medical and veterinary contexts, with applied emphasis on antimicrobial agents and biomedical materials. Key areas include Cronobacter sakazakii, biofilm inhibition, and hydrogel-based therapies for wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Brady has authored over 45 publications and 50 conference presentations. His work spans biotechnology applications, such as ethanol production using thermotolerant yeasts and antimicrobial composites for medical devices. He has supervised 11 PhD and 4 MSc students, reflecting his commitment to training the next generation of researchers.
