Dr. Damian Crosby is a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on biomedical engineering applications, including diabetic foot ulcer prevention through advanced sensor and actuator technologies, as well as robotics and mechanical systems design. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Manchester (2017–2022), an MRes in Robotics from the University of Plymouth (2011–2012), and a BSc in Special Effects Development from the University of Bolton (2007–2010).
Key research interests include plantar pressure management, soft hydraulic actuator development, gripper systems analysis, and robotic tail applications for mobile robots. He contributes to the Laser Processing Research Centre (LPRC) Impact project, exploring laser processing applications in materials science. Supervised students include Cheng D, Suryo Pratomo E, and others listed in ongoing projects.
Recent publications address insole technologies for diabetes care, actuator design for joint control, and sensor systems for foot health monitoring. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
