Dr. Dami Collier is a Lecturer in Medical Virology at the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge. They are a clinician scientist specializing in viruses of global health significance, particularly HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2.
Research highlights include:
- Investigating HIV-1 neuropathogenesis and viral persistence in the central nervous system (CNS) through a clinical cohort study in Durban, South Africa.
- Identifying genetically distinct HIV-1 populations in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) with adapted antibody activity and CCR5 coreceptor affinity.
- Studying SARS-CoV-2 intrahost evolution in chronic infections, revealing immune escape mechanisms that drive variant emergence.
