Damar Lamers

Damar Lamers is a Researcher and artistic director of the Dance in Education study programme at Amsterdam University of the Arts. She founded Stichting ReDiscoverMe, an organization providing inclusive dance for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Her work focuses on democratizing dance through accessible practices that emphasize personal and creative development.

Research interests include inclusive dance pedagogy, the role of art in democratic societies, and the intersection of chronic illness/disability with movement. Key projects include the Ik en de Ander performance exploring body acceptance and the Mag ik deze dans met jou? study examining successful inclusive dance practices.

Publications focus on transformative experiences in dance for marginalized groups, with recent work appearing in the International Journal of Qualitative Studies on Health and Well-being.

Collaborations include the Research Group Arts Education and partnerships with organizations like Handtheater and Artisjok/Nultwintig. She has presented at international symposia including DanceAble and the Symposium Transculturele Danspraktijken.
