Dalia Zein is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tampere University's Faculty of Management and Business, affiliated with the Space and Political Agency Research Group and the Gender Centre at the Graduate Institute of Geneva. She holds a PhD in Anthropology and Sociology of Development from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
Her research focuses on urban placemaking, feminist political ecology, and the intersection of migration, labor, and urban spaces. Current work examines Lebanon's crisis through urban gardening initiatives and mental health centers emerging from infrastructural collapse since 2019. Past research explored migrant domestic workers' spatial negotiations in Beirut using an intersectional feminist lens.
Publications span urban anthropology, feminist geography, and participatory design theory. Her work bridges academic and applied urban development contexts, drawing on professional experience with UN-Habitat and the American University of Beirut's Center for Civic Engagement.
