May Khalife is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at Miami University. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and has extensive teaching experience, including roles as Visiting Assistant Professor and Adjunct Faculty at Miami University and other institutions. Her research focuses on architectural history, urban studies, and historic preservation, with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern and Mesoamerican contexts. Key professional roles include field design work on Lebanon’s Southern Souks rehabilitation and urban research at theOtherDada in Beirut.

Her recent publications explore topics like Beirut’s urban solidarity, Maya settlements in Mesoamerica, and feminist figures in modernist architecture. She actively contributes to academic communities through memberships in SAH, SESAH, CAA, and SECAC.
Awards include the Ph.D. Architecture Scholarship (DAAP, 2017–2019), Urban and Sustainable Design Scholarship (UNC Charlotte, 2016–2017), and Dean’s High Distinction Honor List (Lebanese American University, 2009–2014). She participates in initiatives like the Howe Center for Writing Excellence’s Faculty Writing Fellows Program and the Myaamia Center’s Indigenizing the Curriculum Workshop.
Professional service includes roles on Miami University’s Graduate Committee, Dean’s Advisory Council, and membership in the Women in Architecture and Interior Design Group. She has also contributed to architectural projects in Lebanon and the U.S., blending academic research with practical design expertise.
