Professor Dale Southerton is a sociologist affiliated with the School of Management at the University of Bristol, with a focus on consumption, organization, and sustainability. He is also associated with the Cabot Institute for the Environment and actively engages in interdisciplinary research projects.
Research Interests: His work spans four core areas: (1) consumption and identity formation, (2) materiality and normalization of resource-intensive practices, (3) temporal organization of daily life and time pressure, and (4) comparative consumption patterns across societies. Recent efforts emphasize sustainable consumption, food systems, and sociodigital futures through practice theory lenses.

Projects: Leads and co-investigates initiatives like ESRC Centre for Sociodigital Futures (2022–2027) and RELINK (2019–2023), addressing digital vulnerabilities and sustainable practices.
