Dale Cooper is a Senior Lecturer in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Lead of the Musculoskeletal Research Group at Keele University's School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy. He holds a Senior Fellow status from the Higher Education Academy and has extensive experience in NHS, private practice, and sports medicine, including roles with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Education: BSc Sports Sciences (Brunel University, 2001), MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration), PhD in musculoskeletal epidemiology (University of Nottingham, funded by Versus Arthritis UK). His research focuses on retired athletes' health, musculoskeletal disorders, and pain mechanisms in knee osteoarthritis using fMRI. Notable projects include the World Olympians Association-funded Retired Olympians Musculoskeletal Health Study (ROMHS).
Teaching spans undergraduate/postgraduate physiotherapy programs, emphasizing musculoskeletal practice, sport medicine, and research methods. He contributed to developing new physiotherapy courses aligning with modern healthcare needs.
Grants include $120k from the World Olympians Association for ROMHS and NIH Research Fellowship support. Collaborations include work with the School of Medicine at Nottingham University and the England and Wales Cricket Board.
