Dagmar Jaeger serves as Senior Lecturer in German within the Department of Global Languages at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She develops and leads the German language curriculum while teaching German language, literature, and culture across all proficiency levels from her office at 14N-218, reachable via djaeger@mit.edu.
Her educational foundation includes a PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Jaeger's research centers on German theater and drama with emphasis on post-dramatic theater, as demonstrated in her authoritative work on Elfriede Jelinek and Heiner Müller. She actively investigates memory representation in literature and art through digital humanities frameworks, while pioneering instructional technology applications for language pedagogy and creative writing integration. Her scholarship bridges traditional literary analysis with innovative digital methodologies to enhance cultural and linguistic education.
She secured MIT Alumni Class Funds to develop a synchronous online German conversation course, demonstrating institutional support for her pedagogical innovations. As Senior Lecturer, she mentors students across German language, literature, and culture courses while directing curriculum development.
Jaeger's digital scholarship includes the "Voices from East Germany" exhibit featured at the MIT Museum in 2015 and the "Gedenken und Gedächtnis" online repository, which provides interactive access to interviews with German-speaking authors exploring memory and commemoration in contemporary literature.
