Dagmar Bechtloff

Dagmar Bechtloff serves as a Private Lecturer (Privatdozentin) at the University of Bremen's Institute of History, specializing in Modern and Contemporary History with a focus on non-European history. Her academic career spans multiple continents, with significant teaching appointments at universities in Germany, Mexico, and Switzerland since 1992.

Her research interests concentrate on Western European History of Early Modern and Modern Times and Comparative European Overseas History, with particular expertise in transcultural identity formation in the Atlantic space. Her current research project examines the dynamics of transcultural identity formation in the Atlantic region and its relevance to contemporary society, as well as violence and pre-modernity in urban settings.
