معرفی
Céline Aguer is an Assistant Professor at McGill University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Physiology. Her laboratory is based at the Institut du Savoir Montfort in Ottawa, ON, and she maintains office hours at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). At McGill, she teaches physiology and serves as the academic advisor for the Med-P (Medicine) program at the Outaouais campus.
Education:
- Postdoctorate in Biochemistry, University of Ottawa (2009–2013)
- Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Sciences for Health, Université Montpellier 1, France (2008)
- M.Sc. in Exercise Physiology, Université du Sud Toulon-Var, France (2005)
Research Interests focus on skeletal muscle metabolic defects contributing to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. She investigates how environmental factors—such as exercise and pollutants—affect muscle energy metabolism using integrated approaches from cellular pathways to whole-body physiology. Her work emphasizes crosstalk between muscle and tissues like adipose tissue and pancreatic islets, with key themes in myokine signaling, mitochondrial function, and pollutant-induced metabolic disruptions.
Recent Publications highlight interdisciplinary research on environmental pollutants (e.g., PCBs, BPA) altering mitochondrial function, myokine dynamics in metabolic health, and interventions targeting skeletal muscle metabolism for diabetes treatment. Her lab frequently employs cellular and animal models to dissect molecular mechanisms.
Advising and Collaborations include mentoring students such as L. Garneau, L. Nadeau, A. Caron, and J.F. Mauger. She collaborates with institutions like the University of Ottawa and Hôpital Montfort, with affiliations spanning maternal-fetal metabolism and public health.
Labs & Teams: Her research group is located at Institut du Savoir Montfort, focusing on metabolic and environmental interactions.
