Cynthia Quarrie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Concordia University. Her research explores intersections of contemporary British literature, postcolonial studies, and environmental ethics, with a focus on racialized and gendered constructions of identity and belonging.

Her research examines contemporary British environmental writing through the lens of racialized, postcolonial, and indigenous identity, particularly analyzing invocations of 'deep time' and ancestral belonging. She also investigates ethical frameworks in literature, extending to themes of shame, inheritance, and post-imperial trauma.
Recent publications and presentations demonstrate engagement with journals like Contemporary Literature and Journal of Modern Literature, covering topics such as Zadie Smith's temporal structures, Tom McCarthy's materiality, and Kazuo Ishiguro's narrative ethics. She co-organizes the 'Ambivalence of Rootedness' reading group and supervises graduate students.
