معرفی
Cynthia Lancaster is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). She leads the Center for Fear-Less Research, focusing on anxiety and stress-related disorders. Her work integrates clinical practice with research on exposure therapy mechanisms, military psychology, and PTSD prevention. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has extensive clinical training, including a pre-doctoral internship at the Medical University of South Carolina and the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC.
Education:
- Ph.D., Clinical Psychology (2017), University of Texas at Austin
- B.A., Psychology and Religious Studies (2008), Trinity University
Research Interests:
Dr. Lancaster’s research examines mechanisms of exposure therapy, development and treatment of PTSD, and resilience in high-stress populations (e.g., military personnel, first responders). Key areas include:
- Enhancing exposure therapy efficacy through neuropsychological approaches (e.g., fear memory reactivation)
- Social factors influencing anxiety and trauma responses
- Translational research bridging basic neuroscience and clinical practice.
Lab and Training:
Her lab trains students in clinical science and evidence-based interventions. Current projects explore mindfulness, physical activity, and social support as protective factors for mental health. She mentors doctoral students in clinical psychology and oversees undergraduate research assistants in data analysis and experimental design.
Grants and Funding:
Recipient of NIH grants for studies on exposure therapy augmentation (e.g., tDCS) and mechanisms of anxiety treatment. Current focus includes resilience pathways in first responders and military populations.
