Dr. Cynthia Kamwengo is a Research Fellow in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow at the Margaret Anstee Centre, Newnham College. Her work bridges academia and policy analysis, focusing on global development politics, South-South cooperation, and African agency.

Research Interests: Dr. Kamwengo examines geopolitical dynamics in Africa, particularly Zambia's strategic engagements with Western and Eastern powers. Her current project analyzes Zambia's historical adoption of economic strategies from Commonwealth nations and the impact of external actors' 'economic sabotage' theories. She critiques narratives of non-alignment and explores how digital media shapes public discourse on development.
Publications: Her recent work includes analyses of African foreign policy post-Ukraine invasion, critiques of South-South cooperation frameworks, and studies on China-Brazil partnerships in Southern Africa. She co-leads the Why Africa Podcast, innovatively disseminating research insights.
