Cynthia Henderson is a Professor of Acting in the Department of Theatre and Dance Performance at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. She is a professional actor, director, and author of The Actor's Landscape and Beyond the Studio: a Conversation about Acting. Her work spans the U.S., Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa. She founded 'Performing Arts for Social Change' and has directed notable productions at Ithaca College, including Rent, Newsies, Everybody, and The Exonerated.
Her research focuses on acting techniques, theatre pedagogy, and leveraging performing arts for social justice advocacy. Key methodologies include Stanislavski and Meisner techniques, centering/meditation exercises, and script interpretation.
