Cynthia Feltner

Cynthia Feltner, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at UNC and core faculty in the Department of Public Health Leadership and Practice at the Gillings School of Global Public Health. She serves as the concentration lead for the MPH Population Health for Clinicians program and Associate Director of the RTI-UNC Evidence-based Practice Center. Her work bridges clinical practice and public health, focusing on chronic disease prevention, systematic reviews, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

Education: MD from West Virginia University School of Medicine (2002), BS in Biology from University of Richmond (1998), and MPH in Public Health Leadership from UNC Gillings (2010).

Research interests include clinical epidemiology, preventive medicine, and systematic review methodologies. Her published work spans hearing loss screening, surgical outcomes, and adherence interventions in vulnerable populations. She teaches courses on critical appraisal of medical literature, prevention strategies, and systematic review methods for clinicians.

Dr. Feltner actively contributes to the UNC Ambulatory Care Center’s clinical work and mentors medical trainees. Her role at the RTI-UNC Evidence-based Practice Center underscores her commitment to translating research into clinical guidelines.
