Maihan Vu

Maihan Vu, DrPH, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Behavior at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. She serves as Director of Formative Research and Director of the Qualitative Research Unit at the UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (CPPC). Additionally, she is a Qualitative Research Specialist at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center's CHAI Core. Her roles include leading formative and process evaluation components of community-based interventions, specializing in qualitative methods and program evaluation.

Education: DrPH in Health Behavior and Health Education from UNC-Chapel Hill (2003); MPH in Health Promotional Sciences from the University of Oklahoma (1998).

Research Focus: Community-based participatory research, medical decision making, obesity prevention strategies, and innovative evidence translation. She has contributed to NIH- and CDC-funded studies through qualitative training and research collaboration.

Teaching: Guest lecturer in Critical Appraisal of the Health Literature at the UNC School of Medicine.

Service & Collaboration: Advises students on special projects, collaborates with faculty on research initiatives, and oversees the Qualitative Research Unit at CPPC. Her work intersects with the Lineberger CHAI Core to advance health communication and intervention design.
