Cynthia Bejarano (she/her/ella) is a Regents Professor and College of Arts and Sciences Stan Fulton Endowed Chair at New Mexico State University. She serves as Principal Investigator for the College Assistance Migrant Program and is a leading scholar-activist in borderlands studies, gender-based violence, and migration advocacy.
- BA and MA from New Mexico State University
- PhD in Justice Studies from Arizona State University (2001)
Her research focuses on:
- Gender violence and feminicides at the U.S.-Mexico border
- Militarization of borders and community impact
- Farmworker and migrant rights
- Transborder digital humanities projects
Recent publications center on Frontera Madre(hood) and border-rooted feminist frameworks. These works explore:
- Transnational motherhood
- Migration trauma
- Indigenous border identities
- Intersectional resistance
- Border security critiques
- Community archiving
Scientific and community awards include:

Bejarano co-founded Amigos de las Mujeres de Juárez and currently collaborates on FFIRMA, a feminist digital archiving project. She has mentored over 650 farmworker students through the College Assistance Migrant Program since 2002.
