Curtis Hasselbring is an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Trombone and Music Technology at the School of Performing Arts, Long Island University. Based in New York City since 1994, he is an active performer, composer, and educator with a prolific career across jazz, experimental, and world music genres.

Curtis's creative work spans jazz composition, electronic music, Klezmer and Eastern European traditions, and experimental chamber music. He blends acoustic and electronic elements in innovative ways, particularly through his solo project Curha.
His recent recordings and performances reflect a deep engagement with avant-garde jazz, brass arranging, and cultural fusion, especially in Klezmer and Balkan music. The evolution of his work shows a consistent exploration of identity, sound design, and cross-genre collaboration.

Curtis is an active educator, having taught at the Maine Jazz Camp since 1998, led workshops nationwide, and maintained a private teaching studio in brass and guitar. While no formal advisees are listed, his mentorship extends through clinics and masterclasses. He has not received major research grants but has secured competitive project-based funding for composition. His creative output is closely tied to performance ensembles such as the New Mellow Edwards and Curha, which serve as laboratories for his artistic innovation.
He performs regularly in diverse settings—from Broadway to experimental venues—and has premiered works at the Winter Jazz Festival and Roulette. His music has been featured on over 90 recordings, reflecting sustained artistic productivity and collaborative spirit.
