Dr. Crystal M. Deas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Samford University's McWhorter School of Pharmacy. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and completed a PGY-1 residency with primary care emphasis at Grady Health System. A board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist, she maintains active engagement in research, education, and clinical practice. Dr. Deas developed the ambulatory care clinical pharmacy practice at Cooper Green Mercy Health System Authority.

Her research focuses on social determinants of health, educational interventions in pharmacy training, diabetes care innovations, and HIV prevention/treatment strategies. She maintains expertise in diabetes, hypertension, HIV pharmacotherapy, hormonal contraception, and pharmacists' patient care processes. Recent educational research examines case-based contraceptive prescribing education and sterile technique training.
Dr. Deas participates in national organizations including the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (item writer) and American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Section of Pharmacy Educators. She previously chaired the Alabama Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board and serves on the editorial board for InPharmative.
