معرفی
Cristina Pecchia is a lecturer at the University of Vienna, based in the Department of South Asian, Tibetan and Buddhist Studies. She teaches and researches on the philology, history and philosophy of pre-modern South-Asian medicine and Indo-Tibetan Buddhist thought, with particular attention to the Sanskrit medical compendium Carakasaṃhitā and to the epistemological works of the Buddhist logician Dharmakīrti.
Her recent publications (2020-2024) cluster around two major strands: close textual-philological investigation of the Carakasaṃhitā—its manuscript transmission, first printed editions, and historical reception among Ayurvedic scholars—and philosophical studies on perception, concept formation and meditative practice in Indian Buddhist epistemology. These strands converge in exploring how authoritative knowledge is authoritatively textualised, transmitted and interpreted across South-Asian learned communities.
No research grants, doctoral students, or scientific awards are mentioned in the available sources; her institutional contact is cristina.pecchia@univie.ac.at.
