Jim Rheingans is a Professor at the University of Vienna, affiliated with the Institute for South Asia, Tibetan, and Buddhist Studies. His research focuses on religious, cultural, and intellectual history of the Tibetan cultural sphere (12th–17th centuries), Tibetan and Indo-Tibetan literature, transcultural dimensions of narrative texts, and the reception of Tibetan Buddhism in Europe.
