Cristina Groeger is an Associate Professor of History at Lake Forest College, serving as Chair of Urban Studies. She holds a PhD from Harvard University, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and a BA from Harvard in Social Studies.
Her research focuses on U.S. History, particularly labor politics, Latinx history, education, immigration, gender studies, and urban studies. Recent work includes The Education Trap: Schools and the Remaking of Inequality in Boston (2021), examining educational policy’s role in shaping social inequality.
Groeger’s articles address topics like educational neutrality, public university struggles, and segregation dynamics. Her work has been honored with awards such as the Henry Barnard Prize and Spencer Foundation Fellowships.
She teaches courses ranging from American urban history to gender studies and Latinx Chicago. Her presentations span conferences on labor history, education, and urban studies, demonstrating interdisciplinary engagement.
