معرفی
Crina Nimigean is a Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Physiology and Biophysics. She leads the Nimigean Lab, which focuses on ion channel structure and function. Her research integrates molecular, biochemical, electrophysiological, and structural approaches to study channel mechanisms. She participates in the Physiology, Biophysics, and Systems Biology (PBSB) and Biochemistry & Structural Biology, Cell & Developmental Biology, and Molecular Biology (BCMB) programs.
Education:
- PhD, 1999, University of Miami
- MS, 1995, University of Bucharest
- BS, 1995, University of Bucharest
Research Interests:
Her lab investigates how ion channel protein structure enables diverse biological functions, particularly ligand-gated ion channels and their allosteric regulation. Techniques include X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy, single-molecule methods, and biophysical analyses. The lab emphasizes understanding channel mechanisms in cellular contexts and their implications for physiological processes.
Labs/Teams:
The lab is located in the Gotto-Hamilton Laboratory Suite at Weill Cornell Medicine, with an international team specializing in structural and functional biology. It collaborates across disciplines to advance ion channel research and biotechnological applications.
