Cricket Keating is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies at the University of Washington. Her work bridges political theory, decolonial frameworks, and transnational feminist praxis. She holds an office in PDL B110 R and can be reached at ckeating@uw.edu.
Research focuses on decolonial transitions, participatory democracy, and intersectional justice. Key themes include reimagining political collectivity in postcolonial contexts, analyzing limits of democratic models regarding gender/racial/indigenous justice, and theorizing queer politics globally. Current projects include collaborations on popular education methodologies and constitutional reforms in Ecuador.
Her publications include Decolonizing Democracy: Transforming the Social Contract in India (2011) and articles in Signs, Political Theory, and Hypatia. She co-leads the popular education collective Escuela Popular Norteña and is editing an upcoming LGBTQ Politics critical reader with NYU Press.
Teaching emphasizes coalition-building pedagogies and transnational feminist frameworks. Current research explores participatory practices in postcolonial transitions and sexual politics across borders.
