Pascha Bueno-Hansen is an Associate Professor in Women and Gender Studies and Political Science & International Relations at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. Her work bridges academia and activism, focusing on decolonial feminism, transitional justice, and solidarity with Indigenous and LGBTQI+ movements in the Americas. She is committed to repairing relations with Lenape and Nanticoke communities in the Delaware Bay region.
Her research examines gender and sexuality in contexts of political violence, particularly in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. Notable projects include analyzing truth commissions’ cisheteronormativity and documenting resistance by non-normative gender/sexuality groups. Key publications include Feminist and Human Rights Struggles in Peru (2015) and a current book project on dissident genders in Andean transitional justice.
Recent work highlights queer interventions in transitional justice frameworks, as seen in her 2025 podcast series and co-authored articles on desire in peacebuilding. Her research often critiques systemic exclusion in human rights mechanisms while advocating for decolonial and intersectional approaches.
Awardees of the University of Delaware’s 2020 Mid-Career Excellence in Scholarship and the Cochran Inclusive Excellence award, she also engages in transnational feminist solidarity projects, including support for Indigenous women’s movements in defense of human rights.
