Crawford Gribben is a Professor of History at Queen's University Belfast, specializing in early modern religion, Puritanism, and dispensationalism. He has held academic positions at the University of Manchester and Trinity College Dublin before joining Queen's in 2013. His roles include former Head of the School of History and Anthropology (2015–16) and Director of the AHRC Northern Bridge PhD Programme (2017–2020). He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, Trinity College Dublin, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His research focuses on figures like John Owen and John Nelson Darby, exploring their theological legacies and cultural impacts. Recent publications include J. N. Darby and the Roots of Dispensationalism (2024) and The T&T Clark Handbook of John Owen (2022). He has edited critical editions of works by Andrew Fuller and David Clarkson, and his work bridges literary, historical, and theological disciplines.
Gribben has supervised over 16 PhD students, many of whom have published with major academic presses. He hosts podcasts on religious history and serves on editorial boards for journals like Brethren Historical Review and Bunyan Studies. His teaching includes courses on Cromwellian Ireland, apocalyptic thought, and early modern religious cultures.
