Professor Craig Williams holds a position at the University of Queensland's School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences. His research integrates organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and natural products discovery with applications in drug development and materials science.
His expertise spans total synthesis of complex natural products, development of novel synthetic methodologies, and design of bioactive compounds including pharmaceutical agents and agrochemicals. Current investigations explore cage compounds, organometallic catalysis, and sustainable materials derived from natural precursors.
Professor Williams' publications demonstrate consistent innovation across multiple domains: natural product structural elucidation, development of electrochemically-driven synthetic methods, therapeutic agent discovery, and agricultural chemistry. His work frequently bridges fundamental organic chemistry with practical applications in medicine and agriculture.
Recognition includes the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award (2007), Australian Research Council Future Fellowship (2011), and SCMB Award for Outstanding Contribution to Research (2019). He has supervised over 120 researchers and maintains international collaborations.
