Craig Steel

Professor Craig Steel is a Deputy Director (Academic) and Academic Director at OXICPT, affiliated with the University of Oxford. He previously served as Deputy Director/Deputy Head of School at the Charlie Waller Institute for Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment, School of Psychology, University of Reading.

• PhD in Psychology, King’s College London (1998)
• Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Royal Holloway, University of London (2000)

His research focuses on developing and evaluating psychological treatments for psychosis, emphasizing trauma-informed models to understand psychotic symptoms. Recent projects include a 'voice dialogue' approach for distressing voice-hearing experiences, trauma intervention evaluations in London refugee services, and imagery-based mood regulation techniques for bipolar disorder.

Craig Steel is an Associate Editor for the Journal Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy and a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy’s Scientific Committee. He is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, and an accredited Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.
