Dr Craig Skerritt is a Lecturer in Education at the Manchester Institute of Education (MIE), University of Manchester, and serves as MIE’s Research Impact Director. He specializes in critical education policy and leadership studies, focusing on topics such as student voice, school autonomy, accountability, and policy enactment. Skerritt holds a PhD from Dublin City University and has held external examiner roles at multiple institutions, including Oxford University and the University of Malta.
His research has been published in leading journals like the British Educational Research Journal and Journal of Education Policy, and he has authored/co-edited books such as Consulting Students on Classroom Practice (2024). He actively contributes to academic communities through editorial board roles, special interest group leadership (e.g., BERA’s Educational Policy-Making SIG), and keynote presentations globally.
Skerritt’s work addresses issues like surveillance in schools, the disconnect between policy and practice, and equity in education systems.
