Craig Markovitz is a Distinguished Service Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University and serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) for the CMU Portugal Life Sciences Gateway program. He has founded multiple startups based on CMU technology, including Blue Belt Technologies and Spotlight Medical, Inc., and played key roles in their successful exits.

Markovitz specializes in guiding early-stage startups through capital raising, operational management, and regulatory strategy. His expertise includes FDA compliance, quality systems, and scaling companies from pre-revenue stages to multi-million-dollar enterprises.
Notable achievements include leading Blue Belt Technologies' growth from 18 to 150 employees and facilitating its $275 million acquisition by Smith & Nephew, plc in 2016.
