Courtney Wagner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Kent State University. Her research focuses on magnetofossils as biomarkers for paleoenvironmental reconstruction, particularly in studying climate change impacts on coastal ecosystems through geological history.
Education:
- Ph.D., University of Utah
- B.S., University of Rochester
Research Interests:
- Geobiology
- Paleoceanography
- Environmental Magnetism
- Biomagnetism
- Climate Change
- Marine Geology
Publications (2021-2024) demonstrate technical innovation in in situ magnetofossil imaging, quantitative magnetic unmixing, and proxy development for detecting marine deoxygenation, nutrient fluxes, and particulate matter pollution. Her work spans studies of major warming events like the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum and Cretaceous Anoxic Events, combining fieldwork with laboratory analysis.
