معرفی
Gerta Keller is a Professor of Geosciences, Emeritus at Princeton University, specializing in Paleontology and Geology. She has been affiliated with the Department of Geosciences since 1984. Her research focuses on mass extinctions, particularly the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) event, and the role of Deccan volcanism in these events. She holds degrees from San Francisco State University (B.S., 1973) and Stanford University (Ph.D., 1978).
- Key Research Areas: Deccan volcanism, Paleoclimate, Oceanic Anoxic Events, and Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Studies.
- Notable Achievements: Received the Honoris Causa Degree from the University of Lausanne (2021) and contributed to pivotal studies on volcanic drivers of mass extinctions.
Her work integrates micropaleontology, geochemistry, and stratigraphy to unravel mechanisms behind ancient environmental crises. Recent studies include analyses of the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) and Deccan Traps' climatic impacts. She leads the Gerta Keller Research Team & Collaborators, advancing interdisciplinary approaches in geoscience.
