Courtney Richmond is a Full Professor in the Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University's College of Science & Mathematics. She specializes in theoretical and experimental ecology, focusing on how environmental stressors affect marine and terrestrial organisms at individual and community levels.
- Education: PhD in Marine Science (University of South Carolina), BA in Biology (Swarthmore College), and postdoctoral training at the Academy of Natural Sciences Estuarine Research Center and EPA.
Her research merges empirical studies with ecological modeling, spanning marine invertebrate life history strategies, zooplankton population dynamics in South Jersey reservoirs, and biocontrol of wheat pests. Recent work explores cyanobacterial bloom indicators and four-dimensional ecology education frameworks.
- Key publication trends:
- 2024: Spatiotemporal modeling for lake-stream cyanobacterial blooms
- 2023: Zooplankton subsidy predictions in impounded streams
- 2020-2022: Reservoir ecology, pest biocontrol, and educational innovation
Scientific awards include AAAS Fellowship (2023), NSF CCLI grants (2005-2007), and Smithsonian Senior Fellowship (2009-2010). She mentors undergraduates in field and lab research and collaborates across disciplines in marine, agricultural, and educational sciences.
