Courtney Payne is an Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology program at Samford University's School of Health Professions, where she contributes to academic and professional development in exercise science and sports performance. Her career bridges academia with practical experience in strength and conditioning, education, and coaching.
- EdD in Kinesiology from Concordia University, St. Paul
- MS in Sports Management from Jacksonville State University
- BS in Exercise Science from the University of Alabama
Prior to her current role, Payne worked in collegiate strength and conditioning at the University of Alabama and Louisiana State University, served as a personal trainer and fitness manager, and held an assistant women's basketball coaching position. Her expertise spans sport performance, exercise prescription, and concurrent training program design, with a research interest in enhancing confidence among graduate students in caregiver coaching contexts. She is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a CSCS.
Payne is affiliated with professional societies including the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the Southeast region of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
