Courtney Gibbons is an Associate Professor of Mathematics and Director of Data Science at Hamilton College, where she has been a faculty member since 2013. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Commutative Algebra (2013) and M.S. in Mathematics (2009) from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and a B.A. in Mathematics (2006) from Colorado College.
- Research Focus: Commutative Algebra (infinite free resolutions, Boij-Söderberg theory), Algebraic Statistics, and Science Policy (AI policy, Federal data policy).
- Teaching: Courses in Computational Algebra, Modern Algebra, Number Theory, and Mathematics in Social Context, emphasizing active learning and accessibility.
