Courtney Ferriter, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of English at the University of North Georgia (UNG), affiliated with the College of Arts & Letters. Her expertise spans 20th and 21st-century Jewish and African American literature, American pragmatism, and technical/professional communication. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Auburn University (2017), an M.A. from the same institution (2012), and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2008).
Dr. Ferriter’s research explores how Jewish and African American writers engage with American pragmatist philosophy. She advises the UNG Oconee chapter of Spectrum (formerly LEO), a student organization. Her notable publications include analyses of Tony Kushner’s *Angels in America*, Sidney Hook’s anti-communism, and James Baldwin’s pragmatist politics. Prior to UNG, she taught technical writing at Georgia Southern University.
Her courses include First-Year Composition, American Literature II, and African American Literature. She emphasizes fostering critical thinking and effective communication in her pedagogy.
