Courtney D. Giles is a Senior Lecturer in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Vermont's College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS). She holds a Ph.D. from UVM and dual B.S./B.A. degrees from SUNY New Paltz. With over 15 years of affiliation with CEMS, her work bridges STEM education innovation and environmental biogeochemistry research.
Her research focuses on curriculum design, inclusive teaching practices, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Notable contributions include advancing first-year engineering student experiences and civic learning initiatives. She leads UVM's representation in the American Society for Engineering Education and has received awards such as the 2024 Outstanding New Civic Learning Faculty Award and CEMS Professional Service Award.
