Courtney Cottrell is a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Her work bridges cultural anthropology, museum studies, and Indigenous sovereignty advocacy.

Her research focuses on decolonizing museum practices, federal recognition processes for Native tribes, and critical analyses of sovereignty's role in intellectual property and repatriation. She brings unique perspective as a citizen of the Brothertown Indian Nation and former Tribal Historic Preservation Officer.
Cottrell teaches courses on Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Native American Studies, and Archaeological Frauds and Fantastic Claims. Her work emphasizes amplifying Indigenous voices in institutional contexts and addressing historical injustices through museum reform.
