Alisha Marie Ragland

Alisha Marie Ragland is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at San Jose State University (SJSU) and serves as the Social Sciences Division Tribal Liaison. Her expertise spans applied anthropology, Indigenous archaeology, and bioarchaeology, with a focus on decolonization and community-based research. She holds an M.A. in Applied Anthropology from SJSU (2018).

Her professional roles include facilitating compliance with AB275 through collaboration with the NAGPRA Coordinator, aiding in the repatriation of ancestral remains to California Native American Tribes. Her research integrates pre-colonial osteological analysis, museum curation, and cultural resource management (CRM).

Ragland’s work emphasizes Indigenous methodologies, abolitionist frameworks, and participatory approaches in archaeology. She contributes to the Integrative Anthropology Laboratory and maintains active engagement with tribal communities through applied research projects.
