Associate Professor Ann M. Kakaliouras specializes in biological anthropology, archaeology, and Indigenous Studies at Whittier College. She holds a B.A. from Hamline University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina. Her research focuses on the historical and ethnographic study of repatriation, particularly the relationship between Native American Tribes and physical anthropologists. She explores themes like the construction of 'Indian' identity in 20th-century anthropology and the ethical implications of bioarchaeology.
Her academic interests include the History of Science, Cultural Studies of physical anthropology, and NAGPRA compliance.
