Cornelia Loos is a Researcher at the Department of German Philology, University of Göttingen, where she has worked as a research assistant since October 2017. She joined the sign language research team as a postdoc after defending her doctoral thesis in June 2017 on resultative constructions in American Sign Language (ASL) and Deutsche Gebärdensprache (DGS).
Research Focus: Her work centers on syntax and semantics in sign languages, exploring foundational questions about sentence boundaries, word classes, and lexical semantics. She has investigated how sign languages construct resultative meanings distinct from spoken languages.
Affiliations: Conducted doctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin and collected data in Austin and Göttingen’s Sign Language Laboratory. Earned her master’s degree at the University of Leipzig (2009) and the University of Amsterdam (2011).
