Dr. Baciu's research agenda focuses on understanding how evolutionary stable peaceful equilibria can be achieved and under what conditions institutional change occurs. She examines this through case studies of established democratic orders as well as hybrid or fragile orders. Her work also spans meta-science, with a focus on epistemological pluralism and research methods. She has conducted extensive field research in conflict zones in South Asia, as well as at NATO and EU headquarters, and at ministries of foreign affairs and defense in several European countries and the US.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on the changing international order, with particular attention to security studies, nuclear weapons, and the crisis of liberal interventionism. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical case studies, examining how norms are expressed and contested in international relations.
